07/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Mason is an OF/2B who will graduate in 2025. Some strength present and room to add more throughout. In the OF, gets good reads off the bat and shows active/fluid footwork. Tries to field the ball out front from a square fielding position. He plays behind/through the baseball. Quick exchange into a 3/4 release point, with a loose/quick arm, and an arm velocity into the infield at 71mph. At 2B, he works to center the baseball and has efficient feet. Showed a good approach to the baseball from both the glove hand side and the backhand side. Short arm action, with a quick release, and throws were consistent and on-line to first base. Good touch on DP feeds. At the plate, this right-handed hitter hits from an athletic and crouched stance. Tries to engage his lower half, with smooth timing, and flashed some barrel control. Made contact to the pull side with a bat exit velocity of 69mph during BP. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
