Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

08/27/2023 - National Showcase - Kansas City, KS Mason is a lean 5 ft 10/145 SS/RHP in the 2025 class. In the field, he shows quick feet and covers his defensive area well. He can redirect the baseball quickly and shows a fast arm from a 3 qtr slot. Arm plays at 76 and is effective when he works through the baseball. Working to understand his internal clock will slow him down and stay under control. On the mound, he gains a sidearm slot while using a 4-pitch mix. His FB sat 71-2 with both sink and tailing actions. His CB and SL ranged 59-60 and he drops down further on his SL. His CH has FB arm speed with sinking actions at 66-7. Working to stay closed with his front-side, will allow him to hide the ball more and increase deception. At the plate, he begins in a squared stance and keeps his body to the dish in his stride. Tracks the pitch well and keeps his eyes on the barrel. Sprays the ball to all fields and with more weight transfer, his power will increase. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Mason as he enters his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
