11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Mason is a versatile 3B/RHP prospect who graduates in 2022. In the field, Mason plays with effective footwork and works to field the ball in the center of his body. He fields the ball in a low position with deep hands. Mason has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistently strong throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Mason has a tall stance with a centered balance. He has a good load with a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Mason has a long, upward swing path. He is a contact type hitter who shows solid contact to the pull side. Overall, Mason has a well-rounded skill set and potential to advance his game with development.

05/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Keizer (Salem), OR Mason is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2022. Defensively at 3B, he hustles hard laterally as he tries to get into a square fielding position. He's aggressive on the slow roller and fires throws accurately to his target. On the mound, this RHP delivers a 3-pitch mix from a 3/4 arm slot. FB comes in at (57-60)mph with tailing action and his CB has an 11-5 break. With the bat, Mason has smooth rhythm to load and is a good contact hitter. He swings on a direct path through the zone and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
