06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Mason is an athletic built RHP/SS prospect who has a talented skill set. On the mound, Mason has a balanced delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a live arm with a loose arm action and extends through his release. Mason has good body control with an effective front side and the proper stride length. He does a nice job finishing with his chest over his front knee. His fastball shows late life at 84-86 MPH. His curveball also shows late, sharp movement and his changeup is deceptive. Offensively, Mason has a square setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He has smooth rhythm with a square, on-time stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Mason shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path. He is a line drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Mason plays with fluid footwork and agile actions taking the proper angles to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square, athletic position with soft hands. Mason has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays through the baseball with good momentum towards his target showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Mason plays the game athletically and has potential to make an impact at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
