02/28/2010 - College PREP - Rocky Mount, NC Mason is a two-way player at 3B and on the mound with a solid, strong looking frame that is well suited for his positions. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.38 60 time. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get and playing through the baseball with his feet and hands. Glove action gets deep at times due to his feet stopping through the fielding process, but he shows clean and sure hands. Arm strength is a plus as his throws displays life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Wallace has quick hands, flashing bat speed through a short, direct path. He shows a feel for the barrel with strength in his swing to the pull side. Stride foot is late causing him to rush his swing, losing balance at times. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-81 mph with arm side run on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin but early break. Changeup shows arm side run. Command and control needs to be improved with all his pitches. Mason has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball tools and makeup.
