12/15/2024 - National Showcase - Indianapolis, IN Mason, a 2027 catcher with a tall frame and lean build, demonstrates strong fundamentals behind the plate. He settles into an easy sit, providing a solid target with excellent pocket awareness and the ability to consistently center the baseball. His loud mitt and square secondary stance help him stay in control, while his quick footwork allows him to replace his feet efficiently on throws to second base, with a best pop time of 2.25 seconds. Mason's throws are consistently on line, and he excels at blocking, staying quick and keeping his chin down to secure pitches. At the plate, he starts in an open stance with a quiet head and level eyes, using good bat control to spray the ball to all fields. With three more years of growth and continued development, Mason's skills will only improve, making him a strong prospect for the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
