06/09/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Mathew is a prospect on the mound. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed range of 83-85 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mathew has a bright future ahead of himself.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament This talented (6'0"/180) 2-way player (LHP/1B) is fun to watch. He has a hard working mentality and high baseball IQ. On the mound, Mathew works to a tall balance point maintaining fluid tempo and repeating his delivery well. FB jumps out of his hand and onto hitters quickly, cracking the mitt at 85 mph while showing good/natural run. He has plus command and can hit his spots well - painting the corners. Curveball shows 2/7 shape with sharp/late action. Arm works freely as the ball comes out a little deceptive - keeping hitters off balance. At 1B - Mathew shows athletic actions with quick/active footwork. He funnels the ball with soft/sure hands and can pick throws out of the dirt. As a hitter - Santos has quiet/loose actions with rhythm in his hands. He whips the barrel with plus bat speed while engaging his strong lower 1/2, connecting with pop. He squares the ball up and drives it to the deep parts of the park. Mathew is a versatile player who shines in all aspects of the game. He will be one to keep an eye on in the years to come.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
