08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Mathias is an athletic and talented 2024 OF prospect that works hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Vero Beach. In the OF, Mathias works behind the ball and has range to both sides of the ball. He needs to continue to anticipate the ball off the bat, improve his first step quickness, and create momentum in his lower half when throwing to the bases. At the plate, Mathias starts in an open stance, loads his hands back, and backs the ball up in the strike zone. He needs to continue to create backside rotation, and attack the inside part of the ball. Mathias will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
