09/30/2012 - College PREP - Charlotte, NC In Matt's first Baseball Factory event, the switch hitting outfielder showed well both defensively and offensively. In the outfield, he has short arm action, throws from the high 3/4 arm slot accurately. He has a clean exchange and playable footwork, is agile in covering the gaps and gets in an athletic fielding position. Playing through the ball more will help him utilize his body and get carry on his throws. Offensively, he makes consistent contact and has an athletic/square setup, level/on-plane swing path with line-drive ability. Implementing a load, finding some rhythm within the swing and learning to utilize his lower half will help increase his bat speed and power grades. Overall, the 2013 switch hitting outfielder projects well as a corner outfielder that, with some strength and conditioning, should increase his ability to hit gap-to-gap with authority.
