06/30/2008 - College PREP - Buffalo, NY Matt is a SS with outstanding foot speed. He utilizes his quick feet in showing well above average range in getting to balls in the infield. Feet are aggressive in coming to get the baseball. He does need to stay on the balls of his feet to aid in maintaining better body control enabling the glove to be presented more out front through the fielding process. Arm strength is solid average and does show some carry across the diamond. A strict long toss program will further aid in the development of more arm strength. Fielding actions are more suited for 2B at the next level. At the plate, Kuhn shows a no stride approach through a square stance. Swing path is long due to front side flying open becoming a rotational type hitter with his body. Staying closed will aid in allowing the hands to work more inside the baseball utilizing all fields. Instruction and further development will raise his tool grades as a hitter. Matt has athletic ability with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
