01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Matt is a tall, lean RHP and has a promising future on the mound. Delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 86 mph. Fastball shows a range of 84-87 mph with heavy action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control is solid as well as he locates well to both sides of the plate, pounding the zone. Matt has an upside on the mound and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
