10/07/2012 - College PREP - Hampton, VA *****Velocity updated on 9/18/2013. Matt attended a College Camp and threw 86-87 which was verified by their coaching staff.******Despite less than stellar weather conditions, Matt showed as a solid/athletic SS/RHP. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up as he makes the routine plays. Hands are soft / clean / sure but needs to present more out front. Actions are loose / quick and feet work better then 60 time would indicated. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Rosen shows an open setup with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 81-83 mph with late arm side run and heavy action. Breaking ball shows potential as being a quality pitch, displaying 11/5 shape late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with fading action. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all of his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Matt has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a 2-way player.
