06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Matt is a solid, athletic catcher who has a tremendous future on the diamond. Behind the dish, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.08-2.18 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving/blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick (86 exit velocity) and work through a solid swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact with the ball jumping off the bat when centered with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to develop, Matt has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to develop.
