09/23/2012 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Matthew is a 3B/RHP that worked out solely as a third basemen at his first Baseball Factory event. Defensively, he has firm hands, clean exchange, active footwork, an ability to cover ground and get into an okay fielding position. Matthew has an ability to make plays with his hands out in front of his body, however, he could get a little more athletic in his fielding position, transitioning his weight to the balls of his feet. His throws were consistently accurate with carry from a high 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action. Offensively, he has a square/crouched setup, is on-time, and is a spray type hitter. Getting his feet a little closer together in his stance will allow more lower half use - generating more bat speed and power - while loosening his grip will also allow for quicker hands and increased bat speed as well. Overall the 2015 graduate showed to be a promising player, that with some work should be a factor on his high school team this coming season.
