10/03/2010 - College PREP - Boise, ID Matthew is a two-way player as a catcher plus at 2B with a thin, lean, and athletic looking body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best at 2B for the next level. Foot speed is solid average as indicated by his 7.34 60 time. Feet are active as he plays through the baseball with his body. He displays athletic actions in the MIF, showing soft, clean, and sure hands in making the plays. Throws show accuracy, flashing carry as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength. Behind the plate, pop times show a range of 2.32 - 2.43 through a quick release with pop times lowering as more arm strength is gained. Receiving and blocking skills are near average, needing further development to be quality tools at the next. Offensively, Dallas shows a balanced approach. Hands are direct to the baseball as he shows a plus feel for the barrel with ball jumping off his bat when centered. Lower half works well through the swing with power numbers increasing as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through the swing. Matthew has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
