12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Matthew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas showcase. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.20 range with accuracy / carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front. He utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the plate, he was 2 for 7 with a 3B and 3 BB.

10/03/2021 - All-In Membership - Trenton, NJ Matthew is a C prospect who will graduate in 2023. Behind the dish, Matthew shows active footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws to the 2B bag. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, producing strong line drives. Overall, Matthew is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
