06/09/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Medford (Boston), MA Matthew is a lean, athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Matthew has a presentable glove, active feet, and he sits in athletically. He covers ground, works around properly, and has a long arm action with good direction to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 3.0 seconds. In the OF, Matthew has a presentable glove, efficient footwork, and he fields the baseball in a square position. Offensively, Matthew has good balance, a still head, and he strides straight at the pitcher. He swings on plane and taps into some lower 1/2. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
