01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Matthew is a 2026 1B/OF who showcased his talents at the BF Pre-Season All-America Tournament. At 1B, he has a good pre-pitch step. He has hands out front and keeps his eyes behind his glove. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and consistent throws. At the plate, he has a athletic stance and has loose hands. He has a good rhythm, a strong lower 1/2, and consistently hard contact. He showcased natural pop and had a exit velocity of 90 mph. In game he had a pair of doubles and hit several other balls hard. With a few years of continued work we foresee that Matthew will continue to catch the eyes of college scouts.

04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Matthew is a 1B/OF prospect who will graduate in 2026. Tall frame athletic build with strength present. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.84 seconds. At 1B, he shows active/efficient feet and athletic actions. Showed ability to pick out hops as he fields from a square fielding position with a low funnel. Keeps his eyes behind glove with good actions. Made on-line throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 82mph. In the OF, he starts with efficient footwork and covers ground in all directions. He plays behind/through the baseball and fields off his left foot. Creates momentum on his throws into infield. At the plate, he hits from an open and wide stance. Takes an aggressive swing, with late bat whip, and is centered at contact. Hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 83mph during BP. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
