Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/OFPosition Projection

07/18/2024 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC Matthew is a talented 3B/OF in the 2030 class out of Salisbury, MD. Scouts recently saw him at the National World Series and came away impressed with his game. They said, “Matthew has so much fun playing the game, he is a joy to watch and is extremely coachable”. Defensively, he has an athletic feel and plays on the balls of his feet. Makes agile movements and stays square to the baseball. He fields out in front with great glove presentation and his redirection of the ball is quick and clean. Arm is accurate at 71 and fits the position well. At the plate, he can use the whole field. Had a great week at the plate with 4 hits and 4 stolen bases. He looks comfortable in the box and proved to hit solid pitching. Overall, Matthew plays above grade level and has excellent starting points as he begins his career.

07/14/2024 - Baseball Factory Texas All Star Experience Matthew is a talented 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 2 for 2 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works very hard. With 6 years to further develop, Matthew has a lot potential and will get looks room the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
