01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Matthew is a 2026 OF/RHP who showcased his skills at the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. In the OF, he tracks the ball well, with smooth footwork, and works behind the baseball. He takes aggressive routes to balls as he gets good reads off the bat. He gets rid of ball, with a quick arm stroke, and has an arm velocity up to 84mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance with low hand set. A short glide step, with quick hands, and showed good barrel control. He hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 79mph. With 3 years of growth and development, we foresee Matthew making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

12/11/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Delray Beach, FL Matthew showed good defensive skills and upgrades on the mound at his last workout with The Factory. In the OF, Matthew covers ground well through efficient footwork. He goes back on the ball well, fields squarely, and his exchange is clean; throwing with momentum and a quick arm action to his target. On the mound, Matthew increased velocity to 74 MPH, he has a balanced delivery, and on-time hand separation. He throws a heavy ball, keeps his eyes on target, and competes well in the zone. Offensively, Matthew has a tall stance, he strides on time, and shows good balance. He swings on plane, makes contact, and hits hard to the opposite field.

01/23/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Delray Beach, FL Matthew is a OF/RHP in the class of 2026 out of Weston, FL. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throw are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he uses a square stance with an on time stride to get to balance and work his backside/hands through the zone. He keeps his head still to and through contact to work a line drive approach. On the mound, Matthew operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 56-57mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 56-59mph. striding in line to the plate can help Matthew improve his pitch velocity/command. With 2 years to further develop, Matthew has potential with time and room to progress his game.

12/12/2020 - Florida Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend Matthew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 65 mph. Fastball showed a range of 62-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

11/07/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Pompano Beach, FL Matthew is a RHP/3B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Matthew gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Matthew shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph. Breaking ball sits at 48mph. Changeup sits from 51-53mph with sinking action. Driving his lower half more can help Matthew generate more arm velocity. In the field, Matthew takes good angles to the ball and fields with a firm glove. Hs throws from a high 3/4 angle and makes accurate, on-line throws to his target. Matthew can field ground balls more efficiently by presenting his glove out in front to the ball. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and takes a square stride. He show smooth rhythm and drives through well with his lower half, producing solid contact. Taking a more level swing path can help Matthew barrel up more baseballs. With six more years to develop, Matthew has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Davie, FL Matthew is a thin, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Matthew makes routine plays through playable hands and feet. He keeps the ball in front of his body, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a long/accurate arm across the diamond. On the mound, this RHP has eyes on target, a clean arm circle, and he finishes in a complete position; competing in the zone. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
