08/24/2008 - College PREP - Farmingdale, NY Matthew is a LHP with a strong looking body. Arm strength is near above average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength. Fastball shows good arm side run with late life. Off speed pitches are near above average with solid command. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape, tight spin with good depth. He shows a plus feel for his changeup with occasional sink. He shows great tempo in his delivery with deception. He does throw across his body and cutting off his extension to the plate. Arm action is quick and will work more efficiently out front is he corrects his direction in the lower half. Matthew will draw a lot of interest from the college coaches due to his abilities on the mound. He has potential to be a solid arm at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
