01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Matthew is a 2026 SS/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. At SS, he starts in a relaxed posture, with active feet, and showed good body control at baseball. He worked to center the baseball and fields from an on-time fielding position with a low funnel. He showed a clean exchange, with accurate throws, and an arm velocity up to 81mph. At the plate, he hits from a tall and even stance with loose hands. Showed good barrel control with a good lower half turn. He hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph. During the games, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 3 times with 3 singles. A right-handed pitcher, he has a confident mound presence and some feel for pitching. He has his shoulders in-line to his target and gets his chest over his front knee. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 76mph with tailing action, and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with plus command. Matthew is a solid 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

10/19/2022 - Arizona Easton Fall Classic - Under Class (2025-2026) Matthew is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the Arizona Easton Fall Classic. In the field, Matthew shows smooth footwork with a quick first step. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets his hands activated on time and hits against a strong front side. He works through a level swing and produces solid contact. On the mound, Matthew gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with a controlled landing. Matthew operates with a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph. Curveball sits from 61-62mph with 11-5 break. Slider sits at 64mph with good movement. Changeup sits at 64mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Matthew is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

03/27/2022 - All-In Membership - Bronx, NY Matthew is an athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he creates good angles and works to square balls up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Matthew has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
