07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Matthew is a young player who shows the desire to improve and learn the game. In the outfield, he has a good loose arm action in a high 3/4 slot which creates good carry and accurate throws. He is quick and covers ground well. He can work on his first step, so that he doesn't have to speed up to recover. He can also work on taking deeper routes to the ball so that he can get behind it and work through the ball towards his target. On the mound, Matt has a good balance point and separates on time. He has good tempo and his shoulders stay level throughout his delivery. He also gets good extension and finishes his pitches. He can work on stepping directly towards home so that he isn't throwing across his body. At the plate, Matt has a good load and uses a toe tap to help with timing. He displays good bat speed and compact swing with gap to gap power potential. He can work on keeping his balance centered, and getting his lower half more involved in the swing. Also, beware of an arm bar which can lead to trouble getting to the inside pitch. Overall, Matthew has the right attitude and work ethic to continue to grow and be successful.
