07/17/2010 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Max showed similar skills at Team One West as he has done in previous workouts. Behind the plate, Max has good athleticism, average footwork, and he blocks and receives the ball well. He moves well laterally, has quiet actions, and he gains ground when throwing to his target. Better body control and added arm strength will help Max improve defensively. On the mound, Max has good stuff and sound mechanics. He gets to his balance point well, he gets good leg drive, and he mixes his off-speed pitches well. Pitching abilities can get better if Max can work on a downhill plane and soften his front side. At the plate, Max has good balance and he repeats his swing well. He is short to long, is direct to the ball, and he puts it in play. Add strength and better barrel accuracy will help offensive numbers further improve.
