04/07/2013 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Max is a 3B with an athletic frame and will graduate in 2014. Defensively, Max shows soft hands with a clean exchange and good accuracy on his throws across the diamond. His feet are active and fielding position is athletic. He can work on presenting his hands further out in front of his field position and work on strengthening his arm to improve fielding grades. At the plate, Max is a strong kid that flashes pop with line drive type power. He is a patient hitter with a short on plane swing path. Hitting grades will improve as he focuses on developing a load with good rhythm. With another year before graduation, Max displays good fundamentals with room for improvement in the areas above.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
