12/20/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Maxwell continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.29 runner. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. His feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. He stands over the rubber well, is around the plate with all of his pitches. Fastball showed a range of 73-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/17/2019 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Maxwell is a LHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2021. On the mound, Maxwell gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Maxwell shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with tailing action. Curveball sits from 63-64mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph. Slider sits from 67-68mph with good movement. Finishing with his chest over his front knee can help Maxwell improve as a pitcher. In the field, Maxwell shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws consistently on-line to his target. Maxwell can improve defensively by working on his footwork around the bag. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He takes a level swing and hits against a strong front side, leading to solid line drives. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Maxwell improve as a hitter. Overall, Maxwell is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
