Official Scouting Report

03/05/2023 - National Showcase - Windsor (Madison), WI Maxwell continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting abilities are solid with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with good life. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as outstanding pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving stock on the mound. Maxwell has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

10/05/2022 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic (2025) Maxwell is a 1B/LHP in the 2025 class. Has an excellent frame (6ft three/210) and is a solid target for his defenders. In the field, his feet are effective and centers his body to the baseball. Has pocket presentation and his exchanges are clean. Displays loose arm action from a high release. On the mound, scouts love his competitive nature. His FB topped at 80 and he likes to locate it low and away to hitters. His CG sat 62 with 1/7 shape. At the plate he shows a solid approach. Uses a short stride and loads his body well. Hits off a firm front side and his path is on-plane. Has the ability to square up the baseball and produce gap-to-gap results. Overall, Maxwell is a solid two-way player in the 2025 class.

08/14/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Maxwell is a LHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame stout build with strength present and room to add throughout. On the mound, he has long levers and a projectible frame. Works exclusively from the stretch and has a deceptive delivery. He works downhill and throws a "heavy" ball. Throws a FB that sits 74-75mph with arm side run, a 1/7 shaped curve ball that flashes good depth, and a developing changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. A left-handed hitter, he starts with an upright and square stance. He starts with a short/square glide step and is centered at contact. He showed ability to hit balls hard to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Maxwell making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
