02/19/2018 - College PREP - Brentwood (Long Island), NY McKai is a thin 3rd baseman who will graduate in 2019. Defensively, McKai is light on his feet, he fields from the right in a low/athletic position. He keeps the ball in front of his body, plays through properly, and has a clean exchange to his target. Offensively, McKai has an open stance, a square stride, and a good load. He swings aggressively, works the middle of the field, and has good bat speed throughout the hitting zone. If McKai can loosen his grip, stay short, and let the ball travel deeper, hitting numbers can spike.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Mckai continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

07/18/2017 - College PREP - Providence, RI Mckal is a broad, athletic 3B who will graduate in 2018. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and he presents well out front. Throws are accurate but Mckai needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows squared setup. Hands are loose and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively through the swing. Mckal has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
