11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Select Training & Competition (HS) Micah is a third baseman and right-handed pitcher from Hanover Park, IL, who will graduate in 2028. He recently worked on refining his skills at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona, where he demonstrated strong fundamentals and a solid work ethic. As a third baseman, Micah starts with a good prep step and is quick on his feet, positioning himself well to field the ball. He picks out hops effectively and gets rid of the ball with an arm velocity up to 72 mph, showcasing his ability to make accurate throws across the diamond. On the mound, Micah excels at getting to a good balance point, striding in line, and getting his chest to the glove. He throws a fastball, curveball, and changeup, with his curveball flashing tight spin. In three innings of work during the event, he struck out three batters and threw 55% of his pitches for strikes, demonstrating good command and the ability to miss bats. At the plate, Micah starts in an open stance with an on-time stride, keeping a flat barrel that allows him to rotate smoothly to the contact point. He reached base 3 times during games—once on a walk and twice on singles, showing his ability to make consistent contact. With four more years of growth and development, Micah has the potential to become a well-rounded player and continue to excel both offensively and defensively.

04/28/2024 - National Showcase - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Micah is a lean RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-68 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Micah has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
