Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

10/08/2014 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Micah showed some improvement in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. Defensively, he projects as an OF'er with a good feel. He showed a good drop step, took good routes and tracked the ball well. Using his lower 1/2 more when throwing (crow-hop) and taking a quicker/more efficient first step will improve this senior's defense. Offensively, Micah showed that he could work hard and make adjustments. He uses his hips and quick hands to deliver a powerful punch to the ball. Using a "gap to gap" approach / hard up the middle will produce a next level swing for Micah. He is an exciting, coachable player that will see success in the future.

04/13/2014 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Micah showed consistency in his playing ability in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. Offensively, his rhythm made way for quick hands and solid contact with his middle approach. He uses the entire field with a line-drive plane and has a solid base that allows for good lower half use. Defensively, he showed his sure hands and aggressive approach to come get. He takes proper angles and has good body control to make plays. In all - Micah is a promising player that has a lot of upside for next level play.

01/26/2014 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Nicely showed only in the OF at the event where he displays plus tools across the board. Defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are quick / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and displays plus range. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target while displaying soft / sure hands. Abilities are athletic and he shows big play potential in the OF. Throws are accurate, with life and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying superior arm strength. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic / squared setup and he tracks the ball well. Hands are quick, aggressive, and generate bat speed through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered.

10/23/2013 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Micah continues to impress on the diamond. This athletic 2-way player has a natural feel for the game. In the OF, he tracks down balls hit in the gaps with his speed (6.94 60 yard dash). He has quick actions and plays through the ball well. At the plate, this athletic righty displays a simple approach with smooth rhythm getting back into a strong loaded position. He is a lead-off type guy with his ability to square the ball up and put it in play consistently. Once on base he is a threat to steal and is aggressive working to get into scoring position. Nicely also got on the bump at the event. FB shows some tail and tops out at 74 mph. He works to get balanced and drives off the rubber working on a downhill plane. Developing his off-speed will help to round out his ability to pitch. Micah has an advanced tool-set with an exciting future in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
