12/27/2012 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic Miceal continues to show solid abilities in his game. On the mound, he reaches a tall/controlled balance point and maintains smooth rhythm throughout his delivery. He attacks the zone with all of his pitches and creates extension on his follow through. In the OF, he remains aggressive and attacks groundballs, playing through to his target. He works in-line and makes strong throws that show carry. As a hitter, Taylor uses his lower 1/2 well and swings with fast bat speed which helped to improve his power grade. He works to deliver the barrel through a short/level swing path and makes consistent contact. Letting the ball travel deeper into the zone will help him to drive the ball to the opposite field better. Miceal is a competitor and a leader on the field.

10/07/2012 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Miceal is a 2013 RHP/OF with a good, athletic/broad/solid baseball body. In the outfield, he has loose arm action and throws consistently accurate from over the top arm slot. He has firm hands, playable footwork, and an ability to cover the gaps. He plays behind balls, creates good angles, but could take a more aggressive first step, and find some more fluidity in his arm action. At the plate, he has a square setup with a level swing path, gap-to-gap ability and fast bat-speed. He has good balance, a short/controlled stride, and good extension through contact. Allowing the ball to travel deeper, learning contact points, and freeing up his rhythm/timing will allow for greater, more consistent contact. On the mound, he throws three pitches for strikes from over the top arm slot with free/easy arm action. He gets to a good balance point, has good rhythm/timing, level shoulders, sound landing, and stays in-line to the dish. He has a consistent delivery, works downhill and flashes good arm speed. Getting earlier separation and more bend on his finish will all for a more complete delivery with control and velocity. His fastball hit 81 MPH, and his curve-ball had 12/6 shape with gradual action. Overall, Miceal projects well as a corner outfielder with an ability to come in and pitch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
