Official Scouting Report

07/11/2016 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Michael is a smart player that continues to improve on the field. Defensively, he shows good mechanics from start to finish, with a good setup, active feet, hands that work out in front, and an accurate arm. Getting on a long toss program will help to build arm strength and will aid in his defensive development. At the dish, he shows fluid rhythm, centered balance, and the ability to square the ball up. With some minor adjustments on getting his hands into a loaded position and engaging his lower 1/2, he will become a power/contact force at the plate. Michael is a young player to keep an eye on in the years to come.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Michael is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time in Pirate City. Defensively, he has active footwork and moves well into a square/athletic fielding position. He makes the plays with soft hands, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will help to increase his lateral range. Offensively, this RHH has a balanced setup with patience as he remains selective, waiting for his pitch (drew 2 walks at the event). He swings on a level path and looks to drive the middle of the field. He had effective at-bats, battling at the plate. Finishing with more extension through contact will help to increase pop off of the barrel. Michael plays the game hard and will continue to progress as he builds strength.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
