Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

10/15/2010 - Team One Fall Showcase 2010 Michael showed solid skills both on the mound and in the OF during the Team One Fall Showcase. He still projects better on the mound than in the OF. Michael throws a heavy FB on a downhill plane with nice A/S run. He gets good extension on his pitches, he mixes them well, and he can throw them all for strikes. Michael has a good presence on the mound, he attacks hitters, and gets outs. Mound effectiveness can get better if Michael can gather himself better at his balance point and improve his glove side lead. In the OF, Michael takes good routes and angles to the ball and he makes plays. He throws accurately with good arm strength and carry to his target. He will need to work through the ball more, and quicken his exchange to get better defensively. At the plate, Michael is a better hitter from the right side. He tracks the ball well, stays through, and makes hard contact to all fields. A lower back elbow and more direct hands to the ball will help right handed numbers get better. From the left side, Michael has a good set-up and he puts the ball in play. A shorter stroke should help lefty numbers rise.

07/25/2009 - Team One North 2009 Michael has an injury at the event and did not show as well on the mound as we have previously seen as he only threw one inning with fastball showing a range of 79-83. Injury hindered him from showing his best as we have previously seen. He did improve power number at the plate, now showing well above average power as the baseball jumps off his bat when centered. He has strength in his swing through loose hands. He was 1 for 2 at the event.

06/19/2009 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (FL) - 2009 Michael continues to show solid improvement in his baseball abilities especially on the mound. His body is outstanding and well suited for the mound as he shows projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. He continues to show as a two-way player but projects best on the mound where his future lies. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.49 runner and he utilizes his feet well in showing range, especially for a big guy. Defensive abilities are solid average. At the plate, hitting abilities continue to show well as he was 2 for 5 with a 2B as he shows strength in his swing. He loads well and takes a direct path to the ball, generating bat speed. On the mound, Bradshaw continues to shine as he was invited to the USA BASEBALL JUNIOR OLYMPIC TRIALS. Arm strength continues to show at pro level as he was 87 to 89 mph on the mound. He shows 4 quality off speed pitches with his split finger being the best. He shows a consistent release point with all his pitches and attacks hitters. Michael has a tremendous future in the game and will get looks from both the top colleges and pro scouts.

01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Michael continues to show best on the mound but does show promise as an OF as well. He showed his best arm strength to date, topping out at 91 mph. Fastball shows tailing action and work on a strong downhill plane creating solid angles to hitters. Off speed pitches continue to show as quality pitches. Hitting grades have also improved now showing near above average. Bat speed is a plus and he consistently shows the ability to find the barrel through a level swing path. He has solid power when centered. Bradshaw has the makings to be a special type player on the mound with his pro level arm strength. He will get a lot of attention from the collegiate coaches and may be a 2010 draft guy if he continues to develop.

01/11/2008 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2008 Mike again showed best on the mound. Threw a lot of ground balls and threw the breaking ball for strikes. His arm speed is solid and he uses his lower half well. Would like to see his direction improve. He tends to lose the glove to the 1B side early. He slings it up there a bit which may be an issue down the road. Improved direction should allow him to stay on top and use his body more effectively. He is young and he competes. Plenty of upside.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
