01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Burroughs continues to show as a LHP/1B that will graduate in 2015. At 1B, feet are active as he works to square ground balls, displaying clean hands. He shows proper footwork around the bag and is a solid receiver. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are smooth / loose and works through a level swing path. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to improve bat speed and work to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 4 for 6 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He shows a feel for his changeup with fading action. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard.
