10/10/2010 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Michael is a young, 2-way player that Pitches and plays SS. On the mound, Michael has good balance, he repeats his delivery, and he keeps his eyes to his target. His FB has some A/S run, he mixes his pitches okay, and he is quick to home from the stretch position. Michael will need to finish off his pitches better, improve his control, and add arm strength in order for mound effectiveness to get better. In the INF, Michael makes plays on balls hit his way and he keeps it in front of his body. He turns a nice double play, and throws with accuracy to his target. If Michael can lighten his feet, present his glove earlier, and add arm strength, abilities in the INF can get better. Offensively, Michael has a square set-up, short stride, and he tracks the ball well. He makes consistent contact, he has average bat speed, and he can spray the ball to all fields. Michael will need to loosen his grip and avoid lunging to the ball for offensive grades to spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
