09/21/2008 - College PREP - Azusa, CA Michael is shows the potential to be a very good pitching prospect for many competitive programs. He seems to be fairly raw with his mechanics, but he shows good arm action in his athletic delivery. His fastball is in the upper 80's, yet with a bit of directional work, his velocity and the action on his pitches should improve. Michael showed four pitches as a part of his arsenal, but upon evaluation, it may be best for him to limit that number to three or the time being. Development and command of those three pitches will be more advantages than having four decent pitches. It is recommended that he substitute his cutter for his curveball or change up for the time being, and focus on making that a dominating pitch. As his feel and focus for those pitches increases, he can then implement the development to his fourth pitch. Michael will definitely be on the radar for many colleges that recognize his potential to pitch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
