06/12/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Erie, PA Michael is a SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Michael shows efficient footwork and creates good angles. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and leads well with his lower half. He gets good extension through his swing and sprays the ball to all fields. On the mound, Michael gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Michael operates with a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with tailing action. Curveball sits from 65-68mph with 11-5 break. Slider sits from 68-71mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 70-73mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Michael is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Michael continues to show as a prospect with improvements his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas showcase. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and play through with is body he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, now displaying outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 5 with 2 BB. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-80 mph with arm side run / sink. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and great team player.

10/10/2021 - All-In Membership - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Michael is a SS/RHP who will be graduating in the class of 2023. He shows off a tall and athletic body with room to continue to add weight. In the field, he shows good feet and works through the baseball. He does a good job of fielding the ball out front and off of his left foot. He showed lateral range multiple times throughout game action. On the bump, he works with good tempo and a clean arm action. Fastball works up to 80 MPH and is consistently thrown for strikes. Shows feel for 3 secondary pitches, curveball has 11-5 shape with some depth while his changeup has arm side run and is thrown for strikes, also flashed a slider. Threw 69% of his pitches for strikes. At the plate, this right handed hitter shows an aggressive approach and tries to get extension. He shows a good approach and will use the whole field. Shows some pop and had mid 80s exit velos. Michael is a good kid that will benefit from continued development.

07/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Cleveland, OH Michael is a tall, lean SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Michael has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
