01/29/2023 - National Showcase - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, power potential is near a pro level. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and show a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Hands are clean is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/20/2022 - Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Michael is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. Large frame athletic build with strength present with a lot of room to fill out. At 3B, he passes the eye test and has a good arm. Showed good range and soft hands as he fields from a low fielding position. Short arm action into a high 3/4 release point with consistent throws. On-line throws, with a quick release, to first base with a recorded arm velocity up to 81 mph. On the mound, he showed a clean arm with simple mechanics. Late drive to plate who pitches to contact. Michael works off of a FB that sat 74-76 mph with slight movement. Mixed in a developing 11/5 breaking ball that he uses to keep hitters off-balance. Right-handed hitter starts with a square and athletic stance. Quiet head enables him to track pitches well and battles with 2 strikes. Has a good idea of what pitch he is looking for. Showed some quickness to hands, with good hip rotation, and ability to hit line drives. Had a bat exit velocity of 90 mph in live game action. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.

02/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Walnut Creek, CA Michael is a strong 3B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Michael shows active footwork and moves well to his glove side. He fields in a square position and has a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws and keeps them on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He shows smooth rhythm and leads well with his lower half. He works through a level swing and sprays the ball to all fields. On the mound, Michael operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 62-66mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 65-68mph with arm side run. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/21/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 16U Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting abilities are well above average through an open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. At the event, he was 3 for 9. Defensively, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows big play potential. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball shows a range of 74-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/30/2021 - Winter Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS - Jan) Michael showed at 3B for the first time at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

10/14/2020 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Michael is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who showed well during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Michael fields the ball out in front of his body and has a smooth exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a centered stride. He is on time getting his hands activated in his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a smooth stroke with plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and strong line drives. On the mound, Michael gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm, staying inline toward the plate. He operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits at 59mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Michael is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build up on his skills on the field.

07/20/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Michael is a R/R 1B who graduates in 2024. With the bat, this RHH shows an open stance with rhythm to load. He takes a hack with + bat speed, swings against a firm front side and creates good extension through contact showing some pop to his pull-side. At 1B, he hustles into a square fielding position behind the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt, makes the plays and gathers well. He has good bag awareness and can adjust to throws up and down the line. Only a 2024 grad - Riordan has skills with upside and a lot of time to progress.

01/26/2020 - Interactive Video Program - San Jose, CA Michael is a young, 2-way player who plays 3rd base and RHP. Defensively, Michael has active feet, agile range, and he fields athletically. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he can throw from multiple arm slots with accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Michael has good balance, a clean arm circle, and a controlled landing toward home; competing in the zone. Offensively, this RHH has an open stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has explosive bat speed, he makes hard/level contact, and he can hit to all fields. Solid skills can get even better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
