Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Michael is a thick and strong 2020 2-way prospect. In the OF, Michael has an efficient prep step and plays through the ball well. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing to the bases. At the plate, Michael starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He keeps a quiet head and hits off a firm from side. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and getting extension thru the ball will allow him to keep a middle approach. On the bump, Michael gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rotates toward his target. He has a consistent balance point and keeps his eyes on his target. Continuing to develop a change up and working down hill will allow him to command the bottom half of the strike zone. Michael is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Michael is a talented OF/RHP prospect who has raw abilities and graduates in 2020. Offensively, Michael has a square stance with good balance and a firm front side. He takes a short stride with his weight back. Michael has a short swing path producing square contact. He battles in his at-bats and works the count. Michael does a nice job driving the ball to the opposite field. In the field, Michael takes effective angles to cover good ground. He has a clean exchange and plays through the baseball with good momentum towards his target. Michael throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing strong, accurate throws. On the mound, Michael has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from an over the top arm slot. He stays square to home plate with the proper stride length. Michael has natural cut on his fastball and an 11-5 o'clock breaking curveball. Overall, Michael has a well-rounded skill set with good upside to get even better.

10/30/2016 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Michael is a strong, 2 way player who showcased his skills on the mound and in the outfield. Defensively, he caught each ball at its highest point, doing a fine job of getting to each ball on time, then making quick/accurate throws in consistently. Fielding ground balls with lower hips will help him work under the ball with more ease. Offensively, he hit the ball hard to his pull side, showing good rhythm and strong/centered balance throughout his swing. On the mound, he threw 3 pitches from an over the top arm angle, including a low 70's fastball, a 12-6 curveball that showed late break and a changeup in the low 60 mph range. Mechanically, creating better extension on his throws will allow for later break on all his pitches. Only a 2020 graduate, Michael shows plus tools and still has much room to grow in this game.

07/24/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Michael is a very coachable 2 way player who makes adjustments quickly to improve his game. At 3B, he shows a clean/accurate arm to make routine plays consistently. Getting his feet more active to work around the ball and presenting his hands out in front will result in more range/consistent play making for him. On the mound from his over the top arm angle, he throws a fastball and a 10-4 curveball, with good tempo and direction towards the plate. Finding a balance point and clearing his hips toward the catcher will result in more strikes and a jump in velocity. Offensively, he shows a good mix of power and contact, hitting the ball to the middle of the field resulting from his balanced setup/stride and quick bat. Showing solid tools all around, Michael has a lot of room to grow in this game.

02/14/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Sanford (Orlando), FL Michael is a young 2-way player who continues to work hard. This RHH excels at the plate. He stands in well with an athletic setup and centered balance. He gets good hand separation, swings on a level path and barrels the ball up with some pop. Defensively, Michael hustles into a square fielding position behind the GB. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Presenting his glove and fielding the GB more out in front will help to improve skills in the MIF. On the mound, Michael repeats his delivery well and pounds the zone. FB shows run ranging from 66-67 mph. Curveball shows 12/6 shape with gradual action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed as is shows late run. Only a 2020 grad - Michael still has a ton of time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

02/15/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Sanford (Orlando), FL Michael is a young (2020 grad) 2-way player as an OF/2B. In the OF, he is aggressive and attacks the ball. He tracks fly-balls down hit to his right and left. He has a clean exchange and fires accurate throws into his target. At 2B, he hustles into a square fielding position behind the GB. He funnels to a smooth transfer and works in-line toward 1B. With the bat, Michael shows an open stance with a solid base. He tracks the ball into the zone and hits it where it's pitched, using the whole field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Routes/angles
Infield
1. Glove presentation
2. Field ball our in front
3. Exchange
Offense
1. Level out swing path
2. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
