11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Michael is a young, athletic OF that will graduate in 2018. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and utilizes his feet well in covering a lot of ground. He utilizes two hands well through the fielding process, working on proper side. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target, and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and improve footwork to throw to improve arm grade. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 1 for 4 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he displays solid character and is very coachable, working hard to be the best player he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Michael has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
