09/12/2010 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Michael is an OF with a tall, lean, and athletic looking body that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.20 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF as he works to get behind balls playing through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the OF. Throws show life, carry, and accuracy through a loose arm action. Offensively, Timmins continues to shine through a balanced approach. Hands are quick and aggressive, generating bat speed to and through the baseball, showing extension. He makes solid contact with baseball jumping off his bat when centered as lower half works well through the swing. Future power potential is a plus as he displays gap to gap power. Michael has the makings to be a solid collegiate OF and will get looks from the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
