07/06/2023 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Michael is a 2028 C who improved his skills during the BF Select Training and Competition in Cape Cod. Behind the plate he shows an easy sit with quiet actions. He has an athletic/square secondary stance and tracks pitches well. He creates momentum as he replaces his feet on his throws to second base. Made accurate throws from an over-the-top arm slot with an arm velocity up to 64mph. Showed smooth footwork on his blocking. A switch hitter, he hits from an athletic and square stance with comfortable hands. Has an on-time load and is centered at contact. Gets on-plane early with ability to control the barrel. In live game action, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 4 times with 4 singles. He showed better from the left side. Michael worked hard and was open to all coaching he received in Cape Cod. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

08/29/2021 - All-In Membership - Brockton (Boston), MA Michael is an athletic C/2B who will graduate in 2028. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 3.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. With 7 years to further develop, Michael has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
