08/12/2018 - College PREP - Elgin (Chicago), IL Michael is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who will gradaute in 2019. In the field, Michael shows active footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front. He makes a clean exchange to throw and keeps his throws consistent to his target. Michael can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid line drives. Michael can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Michael gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm action and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Michael shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with arm side tail. Slider sits from 65-66mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 68-70mph as he throws with fastball arm speed. Michael can improve as a pitcher by simplifying his wind up. Overall, Michael has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
