08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Mikale continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.14. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the dish. He is vocal and a leader on the field. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved his abilities from both sides, now displaying similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/02/2017 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Mikale is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2018. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.15 range with accuracy to his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are firm but needs to widen stance and present glove more out front to improve receiving grade. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he utilizes his body well and is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter but projects best from the right side. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Mikale has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
