07/10/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Mitchell is a strong built 3B prospect who continues to improve. As a right-handed hitter, Mitchell has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance. He has a fluid rhythm with a good load and short, square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Mitchell shows fast bat speed and maintains a level barrel through the zone. He consistently lands the barrel to the baseball. Mitchell has the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. At the hot corner, Mitchell plays with firm foot work and good body control. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. Mitchell has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through his release showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Mitchell is a well-rounded prospect who has the skill and approach on both sides of the ball to give him a bright future on the diamond.

03/18/2018 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Mitchell is a solid, athletic 3B who will graduate in 2019. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Mitchell has abilities has a lot of room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
