06/13/2024 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series Mitchell continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.35 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive swing path. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/21/2024 - National Showcase - Houston, TX Mitchell is an athletic, lean OF who will graduate in 2028. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Mitchell has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
