10/09/2024 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic (2028) MJ Dennis is a well-rounded prospect with strong abilities both on the mound and in the field. At the Arizona Freshman Fall Classic, MJ showed impressive pitching skills, with his fastball clocked at 80 MPH. He has a strong mound presence and displayed great composure in all his outings. His fastball not only reaches a solid velocity but also features good movement, making it difficult for hitters to square up. With continued development of his secondary pitches, MJ has the potential to become a highly effective pitcher. Defensively, MJ demonstrated sure hands at third base, consistently handling the ball with confidence. While his range could benefit from further work, his fundamentals and ability to make routine plays are solid, and with continued focus on his lateral movement, he can further elevate his defensive game. At the plate, MJ posted a personal best exit velocity of 80 MPH, showcasing his raw power potential. He had 2 hits during the tournament, demonstrating his ability to make solid contact and drive the ball. As his overall swing mechanics and consistency improve, MJ has the potential to develop into a well-rounded hitter with both power and contact ability. Overall, MJ Dennis is a strong prospect with a lot of potential in both pitching and hitting. His mound presence, composure, and ability to make plays at third base are all standout qualities, and as he continues to refine his skills, he has the makings of a very effective player at the next level.

07/13/2024 - BF Evaluation Experience at Myrtle Beach MJ is an athletic 3B who is a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry (81 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 5 years to further develop, MJ has a big upside with time and room to progress his game. He will be a guy to sure keep an eye on in the future.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
