Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

03/27/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Eastlake (Cleveland), OH Nate continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At 2B, defensive abilities are now well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with downward action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Nate has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

11/07/2020 - Pittsburgh Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend Nate is a 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Pittsburgh Skills Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing and produces loud contact and line drives. Getting more extension through the ball can help Nate produce more consistent contact. On the mound, Nate gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate. Nate shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-59mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits from 61-62mph. Nate can generate more arm velocity by accelerating his arm through his release. Overall, Nate is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/13/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Avon (Cleveland), OH Nate is an athletic (6'1"/175) 2B who swings it from the right side. With the bat, this righty shows a tall/open stance with rhythm to load. Swing his short/direct to and through the zone as he connects and creates good extension through contact, hitting consistent line-drives. Loosening/relaxing his grip will allow for more whip/bat-speed helping to increase his power. At 2B, he shows active prep moving well on the balls of his feet. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. DP feeds/turns are quick/efficient. This 2022 grad has a solid skill-set and is a couple adjustments away from unlocking his potential on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
