Official Scouting Report

11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Select Training & Competition (HS) Nate is a promising 2027 right-handed pitcher and third baseman from Fountain City, WI, who recently worked hard to enhance his abilities at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. Standing with a tall, lean, and projectable frame, Nate has plenty of room to grow and fill out, which will help him continue to develop as both a pitcher and a position player. Defensively, as a third baseman, Nate fields from a low stance and displays strong fundamentals. His arm is accurate, and he gets rid of the ball quickly, reaching an arm velocity of up to 76 mph, showing potential for further improvement with more strength and conditioning. At the plate, Nate starts in an athletic stance with comfortable hands and a controlled load. He gets on plane well and uses the entire field, generating good bat speed and producing an exit velocity as high as 75 mph. During live games, he reached base four times with three singles and a walk, proving his ability to consistently make contact and contribute offensively. As a pitcher, Nate throws a fastball, curveball, slider, and changeup, demonstrating solid command of his secondary pitches. His delivery is smooth, getting his chest to the glove efficiently, and in three innings of work, he struck out five batters and allowed no earned runs. While his stuff is promising, Nate has a tendency to over-rotate in his delivery and needs to focus on improving his arm strength to gain more velocity and improve his overall command. With continued growth and development over the next few years, Nate has the potential to become a standout player both on the mound and in the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
