12/20/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at JRTC - Session 1 Nathan is a 2024 SS/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament. At SS, starts in a relaxed ready position, with quick feet, and works behind the baseball. Closes distance on batted balls and has a clean transfer. His release is synched up and keeps working towards his target. Showed ability to throw from multiple arm angles with an arm velocity up to 78mph. On the mound, he has a relaxed leg lift and has a loose/quick arm stroke. He has a controlled landing and rotates to his target. A 2-pitch pitcher who attacks hitters with a FB topping out at 74mph, and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with good depth. The CB is a swing and miss pitch that he throws in any count. In 2 innings of work, he punched out 2 hitters and threw 66% of his pitches for strikes. At the plate, he sets up in an upright and square stance with comfortable hands. Has a controlled load, with activated hands, and is centered at contact. A compact swing allows him to hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph during BP. Overall, Nathan is a good player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/13/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Delray Beach, FL Nathan is a lean SS/RHP who will graduate in 2024. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Nathan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
